Pupil Voice

Enabling children to have a voice is very important to us at Manor Infants/Longbridge. Please select the relevant site below to find out more.

Longbridge

The term ‘Pupil Voice’ refers to ways of listening and involving children in decision-making. According to Ofsted’s 2017 agenda, a feature of an effective school is engaging pupils as active participants and decision-makers in their education.

Manor Longbridge is committed to the promotion and protection of children’s rights in-line with The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and believe that our children should have opportunities to express their opinion in matters that affect their school life.

How we listen to children at Manor Longbridge:

  • Eco-Ambassadors
  • Learning Ambassadors
  • Reading Ambassadors
  • School Council
  • Sports and Fitness Ambassadors
  • Science Ambassadors
  • Learning Ambassadors

Eco Ambassadors

Our Eco Ambassadors are a group of children who plan and undertake activities to improve the environmental performance of their school. Year three and year four have been completing application forms for the role, noting their interests, strengths and why they feel that they would be a suitable candidate.

Six newly appointed Eco Ambassadors have been equipped with an Eco Ambassador badge and have bundles of enthusiasm to inspire everyone.

The Eco Ambassadors have been working very hard this term. They have completed an action plan based on the results of the environmental review they carried out. They have chosen three areas our school needs to work on. These areas are: Energy, waste and water.

The ambassadors have come up with actions on how they can improve these areas and are now awaiting our bronze award. We hope to have your support with these areas in the future.

Learning Ambassadors

This year we have introduced Learning Ambassadors (LAs) to our school.

The role of our LAs is to promote learning by helping our pupils to make the best progress and raise attainment. During the year, the learning Ambassadors will undertake the following:

  • Lead learning assemblies
  • Visit lessons to spot outstanding learning
  • Promote excellent behaviour for learning
  • Produce questionnaires to ensure our pupils’ are heard.

Sports and fitness Ambassadors

Being a playground leader is a fun, enjoyable and important job, and is a role that comes with some very important responsibilities.

Playground leaders:

  • Act as an ambassador for the school both in school and out.
  • Help to organise and supervise playground games.
  • Make sure that playground equipment is stored and packed away correctly after playtime.
  • Help to make the playground a calm, enjoyable space for everyone.
  • Work in teams to think of and teach new, fun activities to other children and staff.
  • Offer advice when the school is considering making changes to the playground and the available equipment.

The role offers selected students a fabulous opportunity to practice vital life skills such as; communication, cooperation, teamwork and problem solving in a safe supervised enviorament.

Science Ambassadors

For the past few years, we have had Science ambassadors from Year 5 and 6 work together to study, deliver and evaluate Science in Manor Longbridge.

Throughout the year, the science ambassadors will do the following:

  • Science ambassadors are responsible for learning about aspects of science in a contextual format, and then feeding back and ‘teaching’ other pupils about their findings.
  • Science ambassadors will learn how science is being used in the real‐world, or as part of some new innovation.
  • Science ambassadors will plan, test and evaluate an investigation or presentation to deliver to appropriate year groups.
  • Science ambassadors run the activity room for Science Week ensuring that everything runs smoothly. They ensure each child learns something new from their experience.
